2025 Aberdeenshire Grant Awards
We're thrilled to announce that the following projects were approved to receive a grant from the Jo Walters Trust in June 2025, to bring about education in the outdoors:
- Methlick School Parent Council, £246: gardening equipment to make a school pumpkin patch that will allow fundraising.
- Monymusk Parent Council, £250: this is a donation part-funding a container to store outdoor learning equipment at Monymusk Primary which has already done other fundraising activities.
- Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust SC043046, £1,000: approximately 20% of a replacement outboard engine for the RIB that they depend on for all disability sailing, powerboat training, and for all of our youth development activities, Replacing the engine will also allow them to support wheelchair users and youth volunteers.
- Craigievar School, £250: after helping the forest school get started with a grant in 2013 this latest grant will help fund a forest school practitioner to enhance the offering.
- Fraserburgh Sea Cadets & Marine Cadets, £2,000: to fund new equipment (inc weather station) to allow Fraserburgh Sea Cadets to do more STEM.
- Old Rayne School: £250: to pay it for ranger services to allow Old Rayne to do forest school locally rather than by bus.
- Sunshine Nursery and ASC, £200: for additional equipment for their outdoor space.
- Gordon District Scouts: £1,250: this will pay to refurbish the scout camping facilities. it will fund the materials as the scouting volunteers willl do the work.
- Camphill School Aberdeen (SC015588), £1,260: Camphill wants to offer climbing to their pupils: this will pay for a sports climbing equipment pack to allow them to take the pupils climbing.
